Our trip to New York was great. We went to ground zero, took the Staten Island free ferry and saw the Statue of Liberty, we went to the top of the Rock, we had a drink at one of New York’s most romantic bars Shalel, we shopped, we ate at 4 Food this cool innovative burger joint, we went to Greenwich Village, we went to this park that is a renovated old elevated train line called High Line park, we whispered to each other in this awesome whispering coolness at Grand Central Station, we went to Brooklyn, Williamsburg to be specific and hung with the hipsters, man I don’t know how we did all that in three days. While we were gone Shiloh went to doggie day care. When he came home Elliott was spoiling him with some raw chicken goodness when the door bell rang and he sprung in excitement and per Elliott maybe slightly choked on a chicken bone. This inspired a cough that progressed until the next day when at some point I thought out loud to Elliott, I wonder if he has kennel cough. Elliott informed me that kennel cough doesn’t actually result in a cough although I told him I thought it did. After more coughing some of which eventually resulted in something, we will call it flem, coming up we then called the vet who explained his symptoms, “is it like a cough, cough, gag”, yup that was it exactly! So he got to go the vet, be put on antibiotics and be quarantined from seeing any other dogs, his favorite thing in the hold world, until it went away, which it finally has. Other updates, I have joined a gym. My fitness inspiration has not been enough to encourage any action at home and one of my goals this year is to exercise for at least 20 minutes a day 3 times a week. Considering I checked a trip to New York off the list which I thought was impossible I figured I should nip this seemingly easy one off the list. I joined Club One this relatively pricey but large, clean and pretty nice gym just blocks from our place. I am generally really excited about it. My plan is go do a few classes a week like spinning, hip hop dancing or whatever else I feel like. For now I think I am just going to do a little interval cardio to get back into the groove before going to a group class, being that I am competitive I think I should work into that before killing myself in front a bunch of people I don’t know. I had a great time my first trip and I highly enjoyed this work out radio station I found on Pandora which I can stream right on my phone, Kathi is right, music while you work out really is key, it gets you pumped up, I was practically dancing on that step machine I was having such a good time. Also I have been going through a major purge and boy is it great. I get in these moods where my vision shifts and all of sudden all of the things that I have been glossing over that I never use, now I see them and my mind is able to decide that they can go on to another family. So one night stand and two boxes of stuff, mostly clothes, shoes, and books, are sitting by the door for donation drop off. This is all part of our master plan to live a simpler life. Elliott recently read about a movement to live simpler and more modest and the concept is to have only 100 things. I wonder if that means we together could have 200 things… that might be doable.
