We had a great hike today, first hike in a long time and it was to a new place. We almost got lost and had to do an out and back, I really dislike out and backs, I much prefer a loop so the entire trek is new ground. We have a Bay Area Hikes book that makes following the trails sound so easy and we never manage to follow the trails they suggest. However today we lucked out and found our own loop with the help of a nice biker who knew the area. Shiloh was a perfect companion on the hike. We kept him on the leash the whole time since those were the rules and we are rule abiders. Plus there were a lot of bikers and Shiloh isn’t quite used to them yet so it was better that way. He had to stop and smell far to much the first 1/2 mile or so although eventually he settled in and didn’t stop as often. It was foggy when we got there although it cleared up after we were a little more than half way through and turned out to be a beautiful day. The fog wasn’t bad anyway it kept it nice and cool. We went around Phoenix Lake in Marin County.
